The 640-metre Northgate Bridge has been named Infrastructure Project of the Decade at the 2026 Regional Construction Excellence Awards.
Delivered by ABC Corporation in alliance with the Regional Roads Authority, the cable-stayed bridge opened in 2022 and now carries more than 60,000 people a day, cutting average commute times by 18 minutes.
Judges praised the project’s engineering innovation — including the region’s first use of precast segmental pylons — as well as its community legacy, with a new 3 km riverside cycle path and restored wetlands beneath the bridge.
